A Day of Hope and Health

A Day of Hope and Health
Second annual event draws 300!
Sponsored by Wells Fargo

The second annual “Day of Health and Hope” was held on June 6th at Back Bay Conference Center and Boomers.  The day long conference was free to all and was enjoyed by over 300 guests!

In the morning, Aaron Kowalski, PhD, Assistant Vice President of JDRF’s Glucose Control Program spoke about the artificial pancreas.  He was followed by highly respected Orange County endocrinologists, Dr. Susan Clark CHOC, Dr. Alan Cortez     Kaiser and Dr. Nikta Forghani CHOC who served as a panel of medical experts to answer questions from event attendees about diabetes.  During this portion of the day kids enjoyed games supervised by volunteers and participated in the creation of a wonderful art project led by well-known artist and inspirational type 1 diabetic, Zoey Stevens.

Vendors including Animas, Dexcom, Enagic, Lifescan, Medtronic, NovoNordisk, Omnipod and Roche provided up to the minute information on current products and programs.

In the afternoon, families were invited to have lunch and hours of fun,  free of charge at Boomers.

We would like to thank all for a great day made possible through the generosity of Wells Fargo Bank and the efforts of volunteer event Chairperson, Cindy Dreyer and JDRF Outreach Manager, Michelle Popoff.
